So if you associate Soi 8 only with Lolita's you will have to think again. Jerry divides his time between Bangkok and upcountry whereas I divide my time between Soi Cowboy and Nana Plaza. Not exactly the same but the principle is the same.

I had a look in Ice (formerly Gorkle) on LK Metro on Saturday night and it's a smaller version of Club Blu in both floor space, windows and numbers of coyotes. It's a pleasant enough place and it would be unfair to comment further given it's only just soft opened. One thing that I did notice is Ice are charging more for ale than Club Blu so they are going to have to at least match Club Blu's standards to pull in the mongers. They have two Thai DJ's playing fairly 'friendly' music for this boomer's ears and I do believe ST is available in-house. 'Hard' opening is tonight.

The bar keeps who know me will tell you I know eff all about the bar business, (apart from bar fining), but I reckon LK Metro might just have something if it becomes LK Coyote. I mean living in Pattaya it's possible to o/d on flashing flange so an area dedicated to women in clothes might just have an appeal for some.

1. Happy - The Best of my favorite go go bar. There are beautiful girls, friendly staff, good set up- one main stage and seats all around it and one off stage to the left when you enter. This place is always busy, so if you can, get there early.
This place probably has the most talent I've seen in a go go bar. Typical go go bar music but are we there for the music? No! I'm there for beautiful women and this place has it. I don't have anything bad to report about this bar because I've always had a great experience there. They have shows (I have no idea how often) girls come out, dance naked- good stuff. One thing I love about this bar, aside from the stunners who dance on the main stage, are the girls in the big white boots, black skirts and little boob tops.

2. Living Dolls LD - Great places, it reminds me a lot of Peppermint, just a lot smaller, but definitely has some talent walking around and other types. Typically, it is a really fun place to hang out. I met a bunch of really fun girls from there. I saw a handful of guys get shot down by the main performers, which honestly, I've never seen in other places. I guess it really can happen. The top performers are some beautiful girls; a little heavy on the tats, but if that's your thing, there's a girl with leg tats that's just ridiculously hot while dancing. I met a main performer who spoke great English, no tats and could move up on the dance floor like no other nice girls and if you expect me to remember her name, you're dreaming

3. Boesche - Beautiful girls everywhere and they have a great show in the Jacuzzi in the back. Girls eating each other as they put the back of their heads into your lap and you drink a brew with a girl eating downtown at the Y below you. Good stuff. Nothing to report here, this place can get very crowded, but seems to be a late night crowd (gets busy after 11pm). Main stage dancers are usually top notch.

4. Peppermint - Peppermint is a great place to start the West Side Crawl. All the girls I've ever met there were a lot of fun, spoken English and were a blast. It does have a mix of everything; some really smoking hot girls, some mediocre, but the place is so big, it really just houses any kind of girl so it doesn't really matter. There is nothing but great times there and some great talent walking around. Find the stunners they are there, but will go quickly at this bar.

5. Windmill - This place brings a tear to me eye back in April 2007, this place seemed to have so much young, amazing talent that my neck was on a swivel and I met a stunner who was a 12 on the looks department my favorite all-time girl. Since then, Windmill has seemed to go downhill, not so many stunners and while they are wearing plaid semi-school girl outfits, it is just not the stunner quality girls you'd expect. So sad because it used to be such an amazing haven and I used to run to it (imagine a foreigner running down Walking Street in slow motion, with a tear coming down his cheek). The show is great, but if the girls aren't hot.

Pattaya, in Chonburi province of Thailand, is about 150 kilometers southeast of Bangkok. It is probably the most well-known destination in Thailand for foreigner alike. The Pattaya city and its three beaches – Pattaya, Jomtien, and Naklua – grew rapidly during and after the Vietnam War, when the Americans built a naval base and American GIs invaded the town for “Rest and Recreation”

Today Pattaya boasts dozens of Five-star hotels, luxurious resorts, and a vibrant nightlife with hundreds of bars, nightclubs, and restaurants.

Pattaya has a large foreigner’s community, with Americans and Brits topping the list. There’s a sizeable population of assorted Europeans and Australians, as well. Two foreigners’ Clubs organize a host of activities for the foreigners. There’s a various of activities going on in the Pattaya city every day. There are two daily English-language newspapers-The Pattaya mail and Pattaya Today-and one free bi-weekly magazine which is called EXPAT.

Pattaya is a prime tourist destination for the pleasure-lover, and lies along the gulf of Thailand 150 km southeast of Bangkok. U-tapao airport is nearby. A taxi to bangkok is Bt 1,200 - 1,500. Buses and trains are much cheaper and service is virtually continual.

But a reasonable drive down the coast brings the visitor back into contact with Thailand. Sattaheep, Chantaburi and Trat are much more traditional.

5. Rush-hour traffic can be as suck as other metropolis, especially during holidays and festivals.

Opening a successful go-go bar is a lot harder than it looks. Prior to establishing a successful go-go bar, there are inevitably some important factors to consider. Today, we will look at two of the most important aspects. Firstly, acquiring the right location is the first priority. The three L’s of marketing are; location, location, location. As long as you are in the heart of the action, people can find easily you. I always sigh with disappointment, when a go-go bar name card has a detailed map on the back. We don’t want to waste time doing a map orientation exercise! After establishing a prime location, probably the next consideration is the size and design. You might be surprised how many people overlook these things. I dare say some naïve newcomers think that they just have to open the doors and the customers will arrive in droves. It is not that simple, as any go-go bar boss will tell you. Great care and consideration should be taken in deciding on the size of the go-go bar. If it is too tiny, you will never be driving around in a brand new Mercedes Benz in this lifetime! You just cannot generate enough profit to lead that kind of lifestyle. Besides that who enjoys being boxed in? Those poky places are only fun for those who like the hands-on approach. (Call me old fashioned, but I thought hanky-panky was for the privacy of the hotel room). I find that most Westerners like to have their own personal space. Lord forbid if anyone invades that personal space. Small bars usually make small profits.

Pattaya Nightlife

Pattaya is internationally famous for its nightlife, and has a reputation as Thailand’s naughtiest city. Many flock to Pattaya for the party atmosphere where the nightlife characterises the city and self gratification is on the menu wherever you go.

Whatever you are looking for, Pattaya nightlife has it all, from pub restaurants with sedate music to go-go bars and from trendy packed discos to world famous transsexual cabaret shows. Pattaya is also a great place for a pub crawl with very little distance between them, and many different bar types located closely.

Probably the most famous nightlife area of Pattaya is Walking Street in South Pattaya. From the evening until the next morning this road is closed to vehicles. The street itself and its adjoining lanes, known as sois, are all packed with go-go bars, massage parlours, beer bars and restaurants. It is crowded daily and the noisy bustle attracts those from all over. A walk down the street gives a visitor an eye opening experience of what Pattaya nightlife is all about. Apart from ubiquitous girly bars, Walking Street also has an Irish style pub and several discos which are usually packed and loud. Most of the action continues until two in the morning in this area.

Central Pattaya around sois 7 and 8 down to the beach is not as raucous as South Pattaya, but there are still a mass of beer bars, restaurants and other bars to contribute to the nightlife in Pattaya. This is an area frequented by many of the foreign residents of the city, and is more suited to a combination of drinking and chatting. As with all bars in the town, girls will happily sit with men if provided with a drink.

Nightlife in North Pattaya is quieter still, but even here there are probably a hundred bars. There are also restaurants and pub-restaurants with a variety of music from Thai folk to covers of modern western rock and pop performed by local bands and singers. North Pattaya is also home to the famous Alcazar Cabaret and the even larger Tiffany Cabaret, both of which feature beautiful transexuals who mime to both old and modern music while dressed in glitzy costumes. These remain extremely popular with tourists.

For the gay nightlife scene Pattaya has Boyz Town centered round Soi Pattayaland 1 and 3. This noisy and popular area has many gay go-go bars and beer bars. The adjacent Sunee Plaza is similar but both quieter and more private. Gay bars can also be found in other parts of Pattaya that cater for a more mixed crowd in usually quieter settings. Jomtien Beach is another gay meeting area.

Apart from the raucous side, Pattaya also has a number of other night time venues. Thai kick boxing known as Muay Thai can be seen at a number of bars scattered around Pattaya. These do not host events every night, so it’s best to ask at your hotel for information on where to go on a particular night. Pattaya also has two cinemas featuring English soundtrack movies. These can be found at Big C in North Pattaya and Royal Garden Plaza in Central Pattaya. The three bowling alleys can be found at Jomtien, on Second Road and in South Pattaya. Ripley’s Believe It or Not also opens fairly late with a number of entertaining attractions in addition to its bizare exhibitions.

Sometimes, a walk down the Pattaya bay promenade, simply people watching can be an entertaining and more low-key way to enjoy the nightlife, although you are likely to be accosted constantly by ‘freelancing bar girls’ who can be quite annoying with their persistance. It’s all part of Pattaya’s atmosphere. There are however, plenty of decent, quiet restaurants and pubs to hide in if the whole scene becomes a bit too appalling to your sensibilities.

Pattaya Bars

The busy bars scene is Pattaya is a colourful melting pot of tastes and styles, and with more than six hundred known establishments to choose from, you’re sure to find something to suit your mood. The open air, hostess filled ‘bar-beers’ make up the majority of drinking spots, and plenty of go-go bars have made a name for themselves also. Whatever your tastes and morals there is something for everyone here. There is also a thriving gay and lesbian scene boasting a large concentration of bars and clubs in Pattaya.

Pattaya bars are an ideal place to let your hair down and drink the night away. The main bar areas are all easily linked by songthaew routes, but most of the time your destination will be near enough to walk to. The neon illuminated Walking Street is as good a place as any to start the night off, with a host of bars offering reasonable happy hour prices throughout the day and until mid-evening.

For more bars in Pattaya the nearby Pattayaland ‘ups the ante’ somewhat with a choice of go-go bars (both straight and gay) filled usually with scantily-clad females dancing in lacklustre fashion to a pounding bass line that tends to be a conversation spoiler. Along the Beach Road there are lots of outdoor ‘bar-beers’ which offer cheap beer, similar chat, and not a great deal else, There are also wine bars, a German brew house playing nightly live music, and a selection of bars doubling up as restaurants.

At the north end of the Beach Road, sois 6, 7 and 8 are very popular ex-pat hangouts. More bar-girl laden open-air venues get boisterous in a friendly way as the night progresses, situated in the vicinity of some of the town’s best English and Irish Pubs. Pattaya 2 Road serves up more of the same as does the Jomtiem area a little up the coast.

While government restrictions have made an impact on the former 24-hour drinking scene in Pattaya bars, the effect hasn’t be quite as severe from the new 1am closing time. A lot of bars in Pattaya either pay the police, or simply do what they please, so you can be guaranteed a late night drink somewhere. Nightclubs tend to stay open a bit later and there’s usually something going on which completely disregards the law and stays open all night.

Many of the bars in Pattaya are run by ex-pats, and offer a wide range of themes, bar food and facilities, including pool tables, sports TVs, music videos and live music.

Just wake up after a great night out out yesterday. Early in the evening we start in Soi 7. Before we think we take a few drinks at Anna Jet but the time was running and we have a lot of fun. About 1.30 AM we went to the Hottie's Club. A Coyote Party Club at the second Road opposite Mike Shopping Mall, next to Kiss Food. A great place with nice and sexy dancing Thai girls and Live Music. I will advice everybody to have a look at the Hottie's Coyote Party Club in Pattaya. This entertainment venue is now running for nearly one year and it have the same owners as Honey pot and Classroom A Go Go at soi 2 at the Second Road. At 3 AM, still when the music is playing i had enough and went home. Another great night out at the nightlife in Pattaya.

Coyotee’s Owners Plan Private Lap-Dancing Club, Disco

In Pattaya, where cheap draft beer, no-cover bars and hands-on female entertainment reign supreme, opening a private, high-end lap-dancing club would strike many as a dumb idea. But the owners of Coyotee’s A Go-Go plan to do just that later year when they transform the unused second floor of the Soi Marina Plaza bar into Pattaya’s first members-only erotic entertainment venue and the vacant third floor into a disco.

To be called “Slippery Senoritas,” the lap-dancing club will be aimed at Korean, Japanese and affluent Western men looking for an alternative to normal go-go bar fare. Instead of bored Isaan farmgirls doing the chrome pole shuffle, Senioritas will feature a staff of hostesses imported from Bangkok who offer nude lap dances in an intimate setting.

“The entire upstairs will be closed off and each section will be very private. We’ll promise the customers a great lap dance, but exactly how far it goes is up the girl,” said Coyotee’s co-owner Deano.

The sexy entertainment will come at a price, of course. Club membership alone will be 10,000 baht per year with 10 minutes of lap dances likely to cost around 300 baht each, including one large lady drink. Deano noted that the dancers will be prohibited from gulping the drink down, as so often happens with go-go bar lady drinks.

Looking around Coyotee’s at many of the white, aging, overweight and badly dressed customers, both Deano and fellow Coyotee’s owner T.J. acknowledged that the Slippery Senioritas concept cuts against the grain of Pattaya’s Cheap Charlie customer base. But both believe there is a market for a classier, high-end club not only among Pattaya’s increasing numbers of Asian tourists, but among the farangs buying the city’s many luxury condominiums.

Not everyone wants to go to a bar where girls are sticking bananas and dildos in every orifice, Deano said. Many men are, in fact, turned off by the crude and lewd behavior happening an increasing number of Walking Street bars and want something erotic, but a bit more refined.

T.J. said the Thai senioritas will all be outfitted in Victoria Secrets-style lingerie and all have above normal English skills (and likely at least one East Asian language). The club will operate much more like Bangkok’s “G-Clubs” where the customer pays a set rate for a set amount of time she spends with the customer. One drink is included for that time period and the woman will not be allowed to request additional drinks.

Coyotee’s owners expect the club to be up and running by high season. Only minimal structural work will need to be done inside the club, such as adding a new toilet downstairs so that go-go customers don’t walk through the private club to use the current restroom upstairs. The never-used Jacuzzi baths upstairs will be removed and semi-enclosed booths will be put in for new club. And the front of the second floor will be expanded with a glass front and walkway put in.

The plan, less defined at this point, is that the walkway will take go-go or private club members up to a new disco aimed squarely at the highly successful Insomnia disco just across Marine Plaza from Coyotee’s. An escalator outside the club is also slated to take revelers to the second-floor disco entrance.

“We’ve been here for three years now and the top two floors haven’t been used,” Deano said, noting that although Coyotee’s monthly rent is very low relative to other Walking Street bars, the non-refundable key money on the massive building previously known as the “black hole” is among the highest in the area. Utilizing the vacant space will lessen the bite of paying millions and millions in key money every three years.

Of the two bars planned, the disco actually has better odds of making it, at least at first. By its owners’ own admission, Club Insomnia has outgrown its current space and has to turn away customers nearly every night. That overflow has basically kept the decrepit Marine 2 disco in business. Deano believes that, at worst, a Coyotee’s disco could take over that market from Marine.

But even the members-only club idea shouldn’t be dismissed outright. The Coyotee’s duo is not the only bar owners planning a similar addition to their existing venues. A well-known Soi Diamond bar may soon see the addition of an upstairs “VIP Room” where the action can get a little steamier, all for the price of course.

Go to Pattaya Beer Bar Section A figure of over 2,000 beer bars in town may even be on the low side. Every day there is a new opening and an old one changing names, who knows how many really exist and quite frankly who cares?

Very few of them are anything special and the ones that are stand out of the crowd in a big way. Especially the ones with a westerner who knows what he is doing as most seem to be operated by people who have no idea how to run a bar.

Often you get 20 or more beer bars together all trying to play their music louder than the bar next to them creating for us the customer headache central and an experience that I for one hate.

There are several large areas where there are many bars, but there is a growing number of small venues, both in town, out of town and on the main roads from town to the highway. They are in Pattaya, Jomtien, Naklua - in fact anywhere were there are potential customers.

Personally we never frequent beer bars as firstly its simply to hot and 2ndly its nice to se what your getting in a go go bar, I hate getting home with my date for the night only to find she has had 12 kids but looked great in clothes at the beer bar. Sure you will pay a bit more for a Go Go girl but boy is it worth it.

Go Go Bars regularly check their girls for STD's and HIV, also they have the girls ID card, meaning if your girl decides to do a runner with your wallet while your in the shower the Go Go bar can sort the problem out, a beer bar in general cannot since many of the girls are freelancers and not employees in the beer bars.

The majority of the bars are in the main tourist areas, although there are lots out of the tourist areas catering to expats.

Beer bars can be fun for a few drinks however a nicely air coned Go Go bar with half naked Thai Girls although a bit more expensive is the way to go in our opinion.
